With my mom friends, we get together for coffee or tea, to discuss and compare what we've read or seen or made lately (in knitting, sewing, cooking, crafting).
My friends I've met through work (tech sector - male and female) are more about getting together for lunch, and sometimes for concerts or cottaging, and just getting silly through email, MSN, or Facebook. Low key & relaxed.
I have out of town friends that I meet for coastal walks in places like California and Massachusetts. That's not an everyday thing.
What's missing from that list are the friends who run, bike, and swim with me. And the long-term, weathered and worn, life-time friends, who survived the test of many moves and many years and many miles...
They are all about taking a nothing day, and suddenly making it all seem worthwhile. It's in the little things they do, like maintaining an address book and being able to remember birthdays without Facebook. It's a beautiful life.
Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we cry. Sometimes we laugh until we cry. We hope and we dream. We plot and we scheme. We share we're we think we are going, and compare notes on where we've been. I like that, a lot. What do you do with yours?
