I was packing for Barcelona last night. I'll be travelling alone, with a backpack for approximately a week. As I packed, I had this rather odd and sudden feeling that something good was happening with my adoption plan. I decided to journal it.
The trip was great, and I have a few favourite photos. I am back. We are well. I called the agency, and that feeling, well, it looks like there is still going to be much waiting to do. I need to keep myself otherwise occupied.
I've changed my dating strategy... I'm still single. Dan's become the closest thing to a virtual spouse I've ever had, 'cept we actually LIKE each other. He's my Leo.
In my spare time, I'm flipping through Lonely Planet Alaska. Have you been?
Yes, about 14 years ago, though only a tiny corner of Alaska - the bit to the south of Whitenorse/ northwest tip of BC that's connected by road to the south of the Yukon - forget the names of the towns but there are two small towns right on the coast.
It's amazing, as you cross the ridge of coastal mountains and drive down the steep slopes to the shore, you detect a noticeable change in climate... From harsh Yukon/NW BC climate to more temperate climes. The two towns get almost no snow and it rarely goes below 0 in winter, despite being so far north, because of the temperate influence of the Pacific waters.
In the one town we saw a giant rhubarb plant some 6' tall and probably 10' in diameter!!

Are you back yet? How was the trip? Did that "sudden feeling" materialize into anything concrete?
Hope you and Wild Thing are well and enjoying the end of winter.
Hey... a post is overdue.

But that's all of Alaska I've touched foot on...
