Nothing profound to say

I've moved to a smaller purse since I started dating earlier this year. I keep my paper diaries at home now. It's a modern age.

I started writing one of those letters-not-ever-meant-to-be-sent this morning, at a neighbourhood restaurant, on the Notepad of my Blackberry, while breakfasting with Wild Thing.

The letter kept writing itself on the drive home, even with my hands on the wheel, and eyes on the road. Safely back at home, I asked her for some quiet time so that I could let the rest of it out.

We all know that moms must remain fearless and brave. I was surprised to find tears welling up in my eyes as I made this request of her. I reassured her that I am okay, and added that I am finding myself worried about my friend from Paris.

Without skipping a beat, she said, "Uh oh. I hope you're not switching.... you know, he becomes happy and you become sad." Her responses never fail to amaze me.

I think you should drop this guy.
